Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Elect National Representative

HARRISBURG - The Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Association (PCTGA) elected Drew Yenser of Yenser Tree Farms in Lehighton, PA as PCTGA's representative as a Director on the National Christmas Tree Association (NCTA) Board of Directors.  Yenser will start this position effective January 1 st , 2006 .

Yenser has been a member of the Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Association for over twenty years.  He served as president of PCTGA in 2002-2003 and has held a seat on the board for six years.   He served as the Farm Show Committee chair in 2005.

The National Director position requires Yenser to be the liaison between PCTGA and NCTA.  He will attend several NCTA meetings, volunteer on committees, and serve on the PCTGA Board of Directors. Finally, he must represent the position of Pennsylvania growers while at the same time working for the good of the overall industry as represented by NCTA.  Yenser hopes that by serving on the board, he will help improve the Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Association and its mission.

Yenser Tree Farms opened in 1971 with 3,000 Douglas-fir trees and has grown to a variety of 10,000 to 15,000 seedlings each year.  Yenser is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University and taught elementary school for 30 years before retiring in 1999.  His time and energy is devoted to full time tree farming and his wife, Anne and their two children.

The Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Association (PCTGA), with over 300 members, works to promote and develop a community of interest among growers of Christmas trees in Pennsylvania and adjoining states, as well as to raise public awareness about Christmas trees.  PCTGA belongs to the National Christmas Tree Association (NCTA), an association with more than 5,100 professionals.  To find a Christmas tree grower near you, and for more information from the Pennsylvania Christmas tree association, visit www.christmastrees.org .
