Christmas Tree Growers Announce Competition Winners at Bloomsburg Fair

The Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Association (PCTGA) has announced that Heritage Acres Evergreen, Bloomsburg, took three first place blue ribbons in competition at the Bloomsburg Fair. Their ribbons were in the Douglas fir, the Fraser fir and All Pines classes. They also placed fourth in the All Spruce class, third in the All Others class and third in the Wreaths Undecorated class.

It was Heritage Acres Evergreen’s Fraser fir that garnered the most popular votes by fair attendees, making it the Best of Show.

Over 30 Christmas trees and 20 wreaths were exhibited at the 150th Bloomsburg Fair, according to PCTGA officials.

Brown’s Tree Farm, Pennsdale, took first place in the All Spruce class. Ecology III Christmas Tree Farm, Orangeville, took first in the All Other class with a Canaan fir, and fourth in the Wreaths Decorated class.

Elaine Creveling, Raven Creek, took first place in both the Wreaths Decorated and the Wreaths Undecorated classes.

Other prize winners in tree categories at the Fair included:

  • Abraczinskas Nurseries, Catawissa, fourth in Fraser fir, fifth in Douglas fir and All Spruce
  • Borger Farm, Lehighton, fifth in All Others
  • Boyer’s Trees, Sunbury, second in Douglas fir and All Spruce
  • Burlingame Tree Farm, Benton, third in Fraser fir and fourth in All Others
  • Campbell’s Christmas Trees, Sunbury, second in All Pines
  • Homiak’s Christmas Tree Farm, Catawissa, second in Fraser fir, third in Douglas fir
  • Kohl’s Stony Hill Tree Farm, Milton, third in All Spruce, fifth in All Pines,
  • McClellan’s Tree Farm, Middleburg, second in All Others, fourth in Douglas fir
  • Springman’s Nursery, Muncy, third in All Pines

In the wreath categories, other winners were:

  • Jean Bogert, Benton, second in undecorated
  • Boyer’s Trees, Sunbury, fourth in undecorated
  • Liz Brown, fifth in decorated
  • Campbell’s Christmas Trees, Sunbury, second in decorated
  • McClellan’s Tree Farm, Middleburg, third in decorated and fifth in undecorated

The PCTGA had an information booth at the Fair offering visitors Retail and Wholesale Buyers Guides. Tree Fest decorated four trees donated by PCTGA growers to add festive appeal to the display area.
