Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Announces Upcoming Winter Meeting

HARRISBURG, PA- The Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Association (PCTGA) announces the upcoming Winter meeting to be held on Thursday, January 19th and Friday, January 20th, 2006 at the Holiday Inn- Grantville. This annual meeting includes an exciting list of speakers, as well as a trade show.

The meeting begins on Wednesday night with a “mix and mingle” with new and old friends. Thursday morning features Dr. Gary Chastagner, Professor of Plant Pathology, Washington State University and his knowledge of western trends. Also speaking on Thursday are Dr. Rick Bates, Pennsylvania State University and Bill Urbanowicz, Spectrum Analytic, Inc. The day will end with dinner, reception and awards.

Friday includes speakers from a wide range of backgrounds speaking on many different topics with Sandy Gardosik, Entomologist, PA Department of Agriculture; Ellis Schmidt, Schmidt’s Tree Farm; Gary R. Westlake, Sr., Westlake Tree Farm; Tracey Olson, PA Department of Agriculture; Jacquelyn Hakim, Director, Monroe County Vector Control; Jim Rockis, Quarter Pine Tree Farm in Morgantown, West Virginia; John R. Lake, Pesticide Registration, PA Department of Agriculture; and Lobbyist Vince Phillips of Phillips Associates.

Pesticide credits for Pennsylvania and the surrounding states are available to members in attendance.  Also, the annual wreath contest will be held with the winner being announced at the end of the meeting. The registration deadline is Wednesday, January 4th, 2006 to receive the discounted early registration fee. Don’t miss out!
